Donald Trump has announced he is calling off his run for president, CNN.com reports. The real estate titan and host of NBC reality show “Celebrity Apprentice” released a statement today saying that even though he remains confident that he could win the election, he will not pursue the office.“This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country,” Trump says in the statement. “I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election.”Trump added that he will continue to voice his opinions, and that he will eventually back the presidential contender "who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country's most important issues."As previously reported, NBC recently announced that it would replace Trump as host of “Celebrity Apprentice” if he decided to run for president.
