Netflix Moving Further Into Original Programming, Sets Sights on Becoming 'Fifth Network'




Netflix is nearing agreements to finance new original shows, just after the streaming-video service made a $100 million, two-season deal for "House of Cards," reports the New York Post.Netflix's goal, according to some insiders, is to become "the fifth network" after ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, the story says. Asked for comment, a Netflix representative said, "We're always interested in adding more content."According to the story, Netflix is in discussions with Scripps Networks Interactive, whose networks include HGTV and Food Network, about content deals.A Scripps representative noted, "There's nothing to say on this topic right now," the story says.
