'Idol' Gives Fox Another Easy Win in Wednesday Ratings


With a 90-minute “American Idol” leading the charge, Fox scored an easy win in the Wednesday night ratings, TVbytheNumbers.com reported.Fox finished with an average rating of 5.4 for the night in the 18-49 demo, well ahead of CBS (2.8 average), ABC (2.1) and NBC (1.5). Fox also had a wide margin of victory in total viewers, averaging 17.2 million to 10.7 million for CBS, 5.9 million for ABC and 5.0 million for NBC.At 8 p.m. "Idol" had a 6.0 in the 18-49 demographic for the hour, twice as high as CBS's "Survivor" with a 3.0. ABC's "The Middle" and "Better With You" scored a 2.0 and a 1.6, respectively, in the 18-49 demo, better than NBC's "Minute to Win It" with a 1.0.At 9 p.m. the last half-hour of "Idol" rose to a 7.1 average in the 18-49 demo, while ABC's "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town" had a 3.8 and a 2.2, respectively in the same demo. CBS's "Criminal Minds" logged a 3.2 in the 18-49 demo for the hour, and at 9:30 on Fox, "Breaking In" netted a 2.5 in that demo. CW's "America's Next Top Model" trailed with 0.9 in the 18-49 demo for the hour.NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" was No. 1 at 10 p.m. with a 2.5 in the 18-49 demo, ahead of CBS's "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" with a 2.2 in the same demo. Two "Happy Endings" episodes on ABC earned a 1.7 and a 1.4 in that demo for the hour.
