Steelers Running Back Loses Endorsement Over Tweets About Twin Towers, bin Laden's Death

Rashard Mendenhall, a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, must be regretting the tweets he made in the wake of Osama bin Laden's death, which have cost him a lush endorsement deal with Champion, reports SportsNewser.com.Mendenhall's tweets criticized the public for celebrating Bin Laden's death and questioned whether planes could bring down the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, a reference to the 9/11 attacks. In a statement from Matt Hall, a spokesman for Champion athletic brand, published by USA Today, the company's stance was simply that Mendenhall "expressed personal comments and opinions regarding Osama bin Laden and the September 11 terrorist attacks that were inconsistent with the values of the Champion brand and with which we strongly disagreed."
